Let me tell you a little bit about the people writing these letters…

It all started when one young man wanted to change the world, and because at the time he was “only” a carpenter, he decided to at least change the world around him.

Although he lived in a developed country (Australia), he researched and found that just an hour from Darwin was a little island (Timor-Leste) that needed his vision and help.
So with a small bag and a big dream, he ventured into the world of volunteers for almost two years, becoming a mentor for teachers in the Professional Institut from Tibar (CNEFP – Centro Nacional de Emprego e Formacao Profissional).

In the meantime, on the other side of the planet, a couple with a great heart and even greater goals also decided to travel and help the Timorese people with their talents. One as a handyman and experienced bee-keeper, the other as a Portuguese science teacher. Daniel is the forever-active handyman and Celia is the cheerful and loving teacher. 💯Can you imagine the stories they have to tell?

They arrived in Timor after the young man left.. and although their life and background are so different, Timor made them feel like they have known each other for a lifetime – before they even met.

The young man we talked about… his name is Luke, and he is now my husband and I love him more than you can imagine ❤️. (You’ll never guess where was one of our honeymoon destinations? ok.. so maybe you have a slight idea by now.. and this was the beginning of our story…).

Now that I write about it all, I have to mention that in reality … it all started because God is love (1 John 4:8) and He loved us first.. and Luke, Celia, Daniel and many others just want to share this amazing love!

Each letter (post) will bring you closer to the Timorese people… some are fact-files that should help explain parts of the culture and condition of the country, but most of the letters are stories of people living this dream, supporting it with their prayers, time, money, kindness, words, friendship, love…

We talk about one purpose, because all who get involved with Timor, get to experience the bad and the good, the sad and the happy, the challenges and the victories, the downs and the ups, … I chose to finish on a positive note because someone once said: “Everything will be ok in the end… if it is not ok, it is not the end”. The Bible tells us that in the end, Jesus is coming again…and until then, we want to share His love as much as possible…

Share the letters… come and visit : ) and be part of it all!
